Seminar "Development Centres and
Commercialisation Units: Results and Prospects", Yalta, Ukraine , 16-19 October 2011
On 16-19 October in Yalta the CNCP Programme in conjunction with the Kharkov Institute of Physics and Technology NNC organized a seminar
for employees of Commercialisation Units created with support of CNCP. The seminar was attended by representatives of Russia, Ukraine,
Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Poland and UK. It included four sessions: "Commercialisation Units in CIS research institutes",
"Municipal establishments for business development and support", "Cooperation between international funds and programmes on R&D support and
assistance to commercialisation of research developments", "Cooperation with commercial organisations to develop R&D and commercialize
R&D results".

Study tour "Development of local economies faced with substantial restructuring", 11-18 September 2011
The study tour was focused on how one particular area of the UK, West Cumbria, has engaged in a long term regeneration programme to
diversify the local economic and reduce its dependence on Sellafield, the UK's major nuclear reprocessing site where over 10,000 are employed.

A CNCP delegation visited Zheleznogorsk projects from 29-30 August 2011 and was satisfied with the results: more than
500 jobs created in dynamic modern enterprises.
Visit of CNCP Delegation to Ozersk, August 2011
18-19 August representatives of the Programme met City leaders and visited small businesses which are implementing CNCP supported projects.
Visit of CNCP representatives to Snezhinsk, August 2011
On 18 August 2011 a visit to Snezhinsk was organized for representatives of CNCP. During the visit a meeting was held with Mikhail Zheleznov,
the Head of Snezhinsk Administration and representatives to companies implementing CNCP projects.

The 9th CNCP-Russia Conference, Svetlogorsk, July 2011
The annual CNCP-Russia Conference on the Programme's 2010/2011 financial year was held in Svetlogorsk (Kaliningrad Region) from 12-14 July.
The Conference, as usual, brought together representatives of six Rosatom closed cities, British and
Russian specialists, CNCP leaders from Russia and Great Britain.

Results of CNCP Steering Group Meeting, April 2011
At its meeting on April 2011, the Steering Group approved a group of Projects for Russia and CIS. Five projects were approved by the
Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.

Visit of CNCP Programme representatives to Minsk, April 2011
On 19-20 April a monitoring visit for the CNCP delegation to the Joint Institute for Power and
Nuclear Research (JIPNR) – Sosny, Minsk (Belarus) was organized. The CNCP experts visited sites where CNCP projects are being implemented.

Study tour to the UK, 6-13 March 2011
«Examples of Technology Commercialisation from Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol and London» is the
theme of the annual study visit to Great Britain for representatives of CNCP partner organisations
from Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Participants also include the
President of the Academy of Science of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with representatives
of the National Innovation Fund of Kazakhstan and of the Academy of Science of Ukraine.

On 16 March in the Moscow office there was held a meeting between employees of Sens Ltd., which is implementing a project in the framework of CNCP, and a representative of Qi3 company, UK.
Sens Ltd. specializes in design and production of wireless sensors for monitoring industrial objects, mainly in the gas and oil sector.

Conference "ZATO - Area of State Interests", Sarov, 15-16 February 2011
From 15 to 16 February in Sarov there was held a second annual conference
"ZATO - Area of State Interests". Heads of Closed Cities, representatives of the State Corporation
ROSATOM and managers of innovation companies assembled in Obyedineniye BINAR to discuss the most
relevant issues. 15 February, in BINAR there was held a
meeting of the working group on organization of an innovation cluster in
Sarov. On 16 February BINAR became a work
platform for discussion of innovation business development in Closed Cities.

Delegation visits CNCP projects in Almaty, Tashkent and Kurchatov, 7-17 February 2011
Delegation visits CNCP projects in Almaty, Tashkent and Kurchatov. One of the main focuses of the
visit is to make sure that all of the projects supported by the Programme are successfully completed
by early 2012. Projects reviewed include the creation of an electron accelerator facility in the
Institute of Nuclear Physics in Tashkent, which is at an advanced stage. The facility will be used
to carry out radiation treatment for commercial customers.
